| Item Description: | The manuscript of the "Paris Psalter" is preserved in the Bibliothèque nationale, Paris, catalogue number "Fonds Latin 8824." The present edition includes only the psalms given in Anglo-Saxon metrical translation (Psalms 51-150) cf. Introd., p. [vii]-xiii. The Anglo-Saxon metrical portions of Alfred the Great's translation of "De consolatione philosophiæ" of Boethius is from three manuscripts: Ms. Cotton Otho A. vi, in the British Museum, Ms. Bodley 180, and Ms. Junius 12, in the Bodleian Library. The authorship of the Anglo-Saxon meters of Boethius is not definitely determined, but evidences lead to assigning the work to Alfred the Great. cf. Introd., p. xxxv-xlviii. |
