| Item Description: | Issued in a case, 30 x 31 cm. Title from case; imprint from the accompanying commentary volume. Vol. 1 is a facsim. of the original Mixtec manuscript which consists of 1 sheet (65 leaves : all col. ill. ; 24 x ca. 1350 cm. folded to 24 x 27 cm.). The full-col. facsim. is, like the original, folded accordion fashion to form quasi-leaves, numbered p. 1-52 on recto and I-XIII on verso. Vol. 2 is a black and white reproduction of the original Mixtec manuscript (65 leaves : all ill. ; 17 x 20 cm.) The set of 52+XIII loose leaves contains black-and-white pictorial replicas of the facsim. pages. Vol. 3, commentary volume (258 p. : ill. ; 23 cm.), has special title: Origen e historia de los reyes mixtecos : libro explicativo del llamado Códice Vindobonensis, Codex Vindobonensis Mexicanus 1, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Viena / introducción y explicación, Ferdinand Anders, Maarten Jansen, Gabina Aurora Pérez Jiménez. At head of title (vol. 3): Ferdinand Anders (Viena), Maarten Jansen (Leiden), Luis Reyes Garcia (México): (Comisión Técnica Investigadora). The facsim. reproduces two Mixtec texts in pictorial script: the pre-Colombian work on the history of Mixtec rulers Ndesa nikandukoo taka ñuu taka teyu Ñuu Sau (p. 1-52); and a genealogy of the Tilantongo dynasty (p. I-XIII); commentary volume includes transliteration and translation of both texts. |
