Description
Summary:Henri Verdoux is a dapper, elegant, ex-bank teller who marries, then subsequently murders wealthy women to support his own wife and child. A tender, compassionate man who won't step on a garden caterpillar and feeds stray cats, he nevertheless murders more than a dozen women before he is finally caught. On another level the film is an indictment of war in which mass murder is legalized, celebrated and paraded. "Killing is the enterprise by which your system prospers," Verdoux says. "As a mass killer, I am an amateur by comparison."
