The largest series, the Reformatory for Women at Framingham, contains correspondence, notes, and reports on staff, policies, and students; material on Van Waters's dismissal and reinstatement, 1948-1949, including scrapbooks on her hearings; reports of clubs and activities; student essays, stories and poetry; plays by Van Waters performed by students; and reports and articles by Van Waters and others on prison policies. Speeches and writings include radio interviews, papers pertaining to her books, Youth in Conflict and Parents on Probation, autobiographical material, and lecture notes. Also contains diaries, 1932-1959, and papers of the American Youth Commission and the American Council on Education. | ||
