| Summary: | Creativity becomes the most important agenda in engineering sector
nowadays. One of the ways for an engineer to be creative is to identify what are the
factors that cause a person not to be creative. Therefore, this research focuses on
motivation factors that influence the creativity of engineering students at UTHM.
Within this context, this research is an attempt to answer four research objective
including four research questions and three research hypothesis. This study was
structured within the quantitative methods where its samples consisted of three
hundred and thirty (330) students from three Engineering Faculty in UTHM. They
were selected based on a purposive sampling technique. The data was obtained by
using a ready made instrument known as Work Preference Inventory (Amabile, Hil,
Hennessey dan Tighe, 1995). SPSS version 12.0 was used to analyze the
quantitative data and a significant level 0.05 was used to report the finding. The
study, has reviewed an average level of motivation factor for enjoyment, challenge,
compensation and outward orientation. While the intrinsic motivation of engineering
students were higher than their extrinsic motivation. In the mean time, there was a
significant difference in the aspect of motivation where their enjoyment was higher
than their outward orientation. It also showed that there was no significant difference
between male students and female students on motivation factors that influence their
creativity at UTHM. However, the finding has revealed that there was a significant
difference between SPM/STPM/Matriculation leavers and Sijil/Diploma leavers in
motivation factors that influence their creativity. |
