Description
Summary:Malaysia needs to produce affordable quality homes to house the country’s growing population and meets demands arising from migration of people to economic centres in the urban areas. The country is therefore looking for suitable alternatives to conventional building systems to provide affordable quality housing to its citizens. As a part of this effort, the civil engineering department at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, has undertaken extensive experimental and theoretical investigations to develop a load bearing system using Precast Concrete Sandwich Panel (PCSP). A description of these investigations is presented in this paper. The paper also concludes with some major results and a discussion of further research is provided.
