| Summary: | In Malaysian education system, co-curriculum and curriculum are mutually important. Both have reciprocal role in stabilizing and enhancing particular discipline. One of the definitions of co-curriculum is an activity that is carried out outside curriculum as subsidiary to curriculum activity (Emir Hasan Dawi, 2002). As such, in the context of generating Malay civilization, efforts on developing Malay civilization instilled in curriculum education in Malaysia, also can be channeled and developed through co-curriculum. In addition, co-curriculum has a special role in the context of individual development, cultivating national integration, skill development and developing Malay language, literature and culture to a higher rank. Hence, a case study is conducted to see whether co-curriculum activity in higher learning institute can act as a tool in developing Malay civilization in terms of language, literature and culture. Study is conducted on a group of respondents who are involved in co-curriculum in College University of Technologi Tun Hussien Onn (KUiTTHO). Results from the research showed co-curriculum activity in higher learning institute acted as a channel to enrich Malay civilization. Some suggestions were also obtained from respondents on how to make co-curriculum more effective in high learning institute in generating Malay image in terms of language, literature and culture. |
