Summary:Construction industry contributes to the municipate waste. Unsystematic construction waste management has leaded to environment pollution especially in the Penang Island, Malaysia. The main objective of this paper is to study the construction waste management practices in Penang Island. This paper employs various methods include semi-structured interview, questionnaire survey and observation. The scope area of this study is around the Penang Island. The respondent in this study include 20 contractors that are registered under Class A, B and C in Contractor Services Centre (PKK) located at Penang Island and an Engineering Department officer from Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP). The result shows that contractors and Municipal Council in Penang Island were practiced reuse, recycle and reduce but the percentage of disposal also quite high in Penang Island. In order to reduce the environmental pollution in the island, the contractors and the parties involved have to manage construction waste systematically.
