| Summary: | This study aimed to reveal how the university students’ language anxiety in final thesis defense test influence their speaking ability. The qualitative approach applied on this study counted on the interview and investigation on 6 students in 2 months before they had gotten the final thesis defense and the process of their thesis finishing, monitored. The interview were in various day, 1 person 1 day, and it continued for 1 week. The process of their thesis generating were observed and noted. The result of this study indicated that the students anxiety on their final thesis defense really influence their speaking ability. Some students worry very much on their graduation planning due to this thesis, as the family, and relations’ expectation on their graduation so high. Through this study revealed the most disturbing things on the students’ peaking ability in final thesis defense. There are 4 items, linguistics knowledge on paper work (grammar and vocabulary), lack of preparation on presentation, cognitive challenges (fear of making mistake, failure in communication, failing in front of examiner, and failure in explaining, lack of self esteem), and the role of examiner (unpredictable question, disharmony among examiners).
