Summary:The effects of bleaching process on the characteristics of pulp and paper produced from durian rinds under chemi-mechanical pulping (CMP) method were investigated. Ail process and characteristic tests were conducted according to TAPPI and MS IS0 standard. Three (3) stages Peroxide (P-P-P) treatment of Total Chlorine Free (TCO bleaching sequences were applied to the unbeaten and unbleached durian rinds CMP pulp. Bleached durian rinds CMP pulp drainage time was decreased and freeness level was increased compared to unbleached pulp. it was determined that overall optical (opacity and brightness) and mechanical characteristics [tensile index, tearing index, bursting index and foidingno.) of durian rinds CMP 60 gsm paper were improved as the bleaching process was applied.
