Summary:This paper present the design studies and performance of novel 12slot-8pole hybrid excitation flux switching motor (HEFSM) with segmental rotor for various applications. Novel structure of HEFSM contains three PMs and three FECs for the excitation source to make the structure simple and smooth flux distribution over the stator and rotor segments. The segmental rotor has been used to obtain the shortest flux paths through the segments of rotor unlike toothed rotor structure. Besides, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is used to examine the magnetic flux lines, flux strengthening, torque and power vs speed characteristics, losses and efficiency of proposed motor. As conclusion novel HEFSM achieved the torque 55% and power 61% more than the initial HEFSM along with 78.56% of efficiency which is suitable for various high speed motor applications
