and environment. Therefore, the present study aimed to design a natural filtration system consists of clamshell, steel slag,
limestone and sand media for treatment of greywater in a pilot scale. The filtration system was designed with 24 L of capacity
and fixed at the discharge point of greywater in village houses. The filtration system exhibited high efficiency for treatment
of household greywater with 87.70 % of removal for BOD5, 74.0% for COD, 96.2 % for TSS and 98% for turbidity with pH
7.87. The filtrated greywater met the Malaysian standard limits required by EQA 1974, Regulations 2009, Standards A for
disposal into upstream of the drain. |
