Description
Summary:The performance of polystyrene-divinylbenzene) stationary phase was evaluated for the separation of test compounds, alkyl aryl ketones, and barbiturates under reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) at high temperature (100 degrees C-200 degrees C) using water-rich and superheated water as the eluent. Good separations with acceptable column efficiencies were achieved at high column temperatures. Van't Hoff plots for the separations were linear, which suggest that for selected compounds over the temperature range studied, no changes occurred in the retention mechanism. The high temperature RP-HPLC separation technique was successfully applied to the separation of selected barbiturates using 100% pure water as the eluent.
