Description
Summary:Hearing screening is an essential test to detect hearing ability of someone. One of the most common neurosensory handicaps in newborns and children is a congenital hearing loss [1] [2]. Early detection of hearing loss is important to give therapies as early as possible especially to the deaf newborn and children. A serious delay in the development has to be expected if the therapies have not been done to the deaf babies during the first 24 weeks [1][14][15]. A good hearing ability is absolutely necessary for a normal speech development. In cases with pronounced hearing loss even no speech ability will develop at all, causing serious communication problems and impaired intellectual and emotional development. The consequences of being deaf-mute are special schools and care, social isolation, and no exploitation of potential skills. Thus there are serious medical and economical consequences for the entire society due to this problem [1].
