| Summary: | In a changing electric industry, monitoring power supply and power quality are critical to ensure optimal performance of power systems. Monitoring and analysis of power-line waveforms can be a vital diagnostic tool, identifying problem conditions on a power system before they can cause disturbances or interruptions. This project presents a system that can monitor power-line voltage and current waveforms. Signal analysis techniques such as the periodogram and spectrogram are employed to analyse power-line voltage and current variations. The National Instruments (NI) USB-6009 Data Acquisition (DAQ) card is used for automatically acquiring the power-line voltage and current waveforms and a graphical user interface (GUI) was developed on a personal computer using the Visual Basic 6.0 to monitor, analyse and store the power quality data efficiently. |
