| Summary: | Road infrastructure maintenance seems shorter in the light of time and harder in the light of implementation. While, the number of roads to be maintain are numerous and lengthy the approach in executing the maintenance of these roads needs to be reviewed Damages to roads are mainly brought about due to the lack of standardization of the road constructions, including solidity of soil, concrete steel, and asphalt. In addition, the damages to these roads are also caused by lack of water controlling system (drainage) and overloads. Added to this is the fact that the maintenance of road infrastructures by the Service of Public Works of Padang City was conducted using two traditional maintenance models namely;, the periodic maintenance and regular maintenance model. The two models are dependent on the budget allocation. The problems of road maintenance in Padang City lead to a research with the objective of finding an appropriate maintenance model. Prior to conducting a full scale research an initial research was conducted aimed at identifying the appropriate tools that can be used to identify priorities in conducting road maintenance. Two method were selected namely the Fuzzy Screening System (FSS) and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method as tools to solve the problems for prioritizing maintenance. By using (FSS) and (AHP) method simultaneously), this research hopes to develop a new method in prioritizing road maintenance activities in Padang. Results of the analysis shows that criteria considered important include; condition of the roads; types of maintenance; mobility accessibility road's benefit population citizen's role road's hierarchy service level public transportation's route superiority of commodity traffic's volume and Proposal by Work Area Unit of Development (Usulan Unit Daerah Kerja Pembangunan/UDKP). For important enough score the criteria include; the amount of public facilities; economic advisabilities; the width of region and the level of accident. |
