Description
Summary:Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) is a type of ad hoc network whereby its nodes are represented by vehicles. It originated from the desire to ensure drivers comfort and safety in road transportation so as to reduce the risk of accidents on the roads. VANETs have some unique features that make it different from MANETs in terms of characteristics, architecture, applications and challenges. This paper presents an extensive survey on VANETs and issues that are common so as provide necessary information and insight to developers and researchers in this field of research. The paper begins with ad hoc networks and ends with tools for VANETs simulation.
